The CREAT group was born in September 2015 following the need to continue the exchanges started in 2014 with
the University of Strasbourg:
• 4 scientific days focused on the Didactics of Artistic Creation (University of Strasbourg) took place on
November 28, 2014, March 13, 2015, January 22 & 23, 2016 (Scientific Director: Grazia Giacco)
These days had raised a need to question creative approaches in the arts, but also
in the technical disciplines (creative activities and home economics), approaches which also find their meanings
in other disciplines.
At the Haute École pédagogique Vaud, several events were organized or will be organized:
International Research Days:
• Interdisciplinarity and Music, April 24, 2015
• Become an actor in a technical democracy, 25 and 26 November 2015
• Cultures and Creation didactical approaches, May 18th and 19th, 2016
Symposia:
• Artifact Design: Ergonomic Approaches, October 6 and 7, 2016
• Artist and teacher: duo-duel, 12 and 14 September 2017
Summer / Winter Academies:
• Research-creation: didactic perspectives, July 4 -6, 2017
• Research-creation, Winter Academy (University of Strasbourg / University of Western Brittany, planned collaboration with the Swiss Consulate in Strasbourg), February 2018
These various scientific events attest to a desire to broaden research on creative practices in
teaching of arts and technology by developing both a pooled teacher-research community
around creative practices today and their teaching in arts and technology.
Since 2015, these institutional exchanges have been able to find a workspace within the CREAT research “group”.
However, the development of international relations (France, Finland, Quebec) as well as the recognition gained
by our peers and the desire expressed by several world-renowned researchers to want to institutionalize a
long-term collaboration, require the design and setting up of a research organization that can carry the
future projects. These different elements attest to the need and the need to institutionalize CREAT as a
international laboratory.
